Service Description

This weekly guided open water practice session is open to anyone who can swim a minimum of 500m front crawl. The idea of this group session is to offer regular swimmers a structured training session for 45 minutes. We will work on a mix of open water swimming skills (breathing, sighting, drafting, turning at buoys, event starts, etc.), efficient front crawl technique and fitness. At the beginning of the session, we do some land-based breathing exercises to mobilise your breathing muscles and oxygenate the body before swimming. We usually warm down afterwards with a short breathing exercise to restore balance in the body following exercise. If you are a triathlete, you can use these exercises before running and cycling, or any sport in fact. The group will run on Saturday mornings at 9am and you can book your place in the "book online" section of this website from May 2024. You also need to book the 9am swim slot with PTPCoaching who run the swim sessions at WeirWood.
